Halloween Party Ideas Sure to Impress Your Guests

Filed under: Lifestyle Portal, Miscellaneous, The Funny Farm — admin @ 10:03 am

Witches have long since been a part of Halloween custom. Each year, you’re certain to have more than a few witches of all shapes and sizes rapping on your door for a trick or a treat. Celebrate witches - the good, the bad and the ugly - by holding a Which Witch is Which Halloween Party! There are plenty of great halloween party ideas that go along with the Witch theme, and you and your guests are bound to have a wicked good time. Play “Which Witch is Which” - the guessing game that brings to life classic witches from childhood stories and films. Jump on your flying broom for a celebration full of witchcraft fun, devilishly delicious witch cookies, and a bubbling green concoction of toad-ally tasty punch.

Nothing sets the mood like frightful Halloween decor. String up dark paper bat garland. Cut out enormous question marks from dark paper and put them up as well. Use ink to create fingerprints onto clear acetate paper, cut out and attach to mirrors and windows around the home! Of course, no murder mystery would be complete without a few suspicious “weapons” lying around. Leave out items like a wrench, toy sword and label and empty bottle, “POISON” to bring on the suspicion!Fix peanut butter cookies and chocolate cookies to give to your friends. Place the cookies in a clear cellophane bag, alternating the peanut butter cookies with the chocolate cookies to match with the orange and black theme. Tie the bag closed with a cute piece of orange or black ribbon.

You can never go wrong with the classic pumpkin-carving contest. Get people excited for the contest by supplying a prize for the winning carver. Go to the pumpin farm and collect a bunch of enormous pumpkins that are ideal for carving. Give guests paints, carving tools, markers, felt and other decorative crafting items from your area craft shop to make their pumpkin. Then choose three guests to judge the winning pumpkin. Give the winner a prize, and display the winning pumpkin as your centerpiece at your fete.

Flamenco Dancing

Filed under: Eating Out, The Funny Farm — admin @ 2:04 am

Flamenco dancing emanated in a neighborhood called Andalusia in Spain. This way of dancing is native to the Andalusian people. It is also inspired by other cultures such as Sephardic, Moorish, and Byzantine. The inspirations of the different cultures in the flamenco dance appeated during the 1400 A.D.

The expression flamenco was not mentioned in any archaeological source until the 18th century. Flamenco dancers are well established among the gypsies in Andalusia. The gypsies that lived in Andalusia are also known as the Gitanos. The natives that live with the gypsies are also familiar with this dance. The contribution to the progress of the flamenco dance happens in Extremadura and Murcia. This genre of dance also mixes with other influences from cultures that belong to countries outside Andalusia such as Cuba. Many musical dances and techniques are derived from the Jewish and Moorish societies.

The golden age of flamenco took place in between 1869 - 1910. During this period, this form of dance was performed at the cafes. People who want to watch the flamenco dance have to pay for the admission charges. Later, more and more cafes that offer the flamenco dance show are opened.

While performing this dance, the women wear different kinds of dresses. The costumes are generally black or red in color. Some women also wear white and navy blue dresses. The dresses are designed with many ruffles and high heel shoes. The men will wear tuxedo and streach pants during the flamenco performance.

This type of dancing is not accompanied by musical instruments. Instead, the people would sing and clap the hands. In this type of dancing, the dancer performs the dancing steps based on his or her emotions. The dancers may possibly shake their body or kick their feet high to show their emotions. At times, the dancer may lose control of their emotions through this dancing. All the same, the flamenco dancing is at all times done with grace and precision.

Filed under: Social Parlor, The Funny Farm — admin @ 12:07 am

There’s a brand new fad going around town, and it’s this: members of the general public are welcoming strangers into their homes for a remarkable dining event; a three or four course meal, with restaurant-style service, for a fraction of the price. People love to see how others live or have a good nose around their house, and the hosts love to cook, and show off their culinary skills, so the supper club idea is catching up for a number of reasons.

Evidently, in the midst of a lot of these dinner club joints to select from throughout London and indeed across the UK, making yours stand out for prospective customers may be tricky-no more, say we. Your supper will be completely impressed at your originality and consideration when you incorporate wish lanterns, either released at the end of the meal, or perhaps given out to guests as a parting gift and you will definitely be recommended by your supper to their chums thus advertising your small business and helping it keep running.

Just create in your mind the incident: your diners are full to the brim and utterly pleased with their delicious meal. You guide them outside for a pleasing parade of sky lanterns, as they stand and stare at with a glass of wine, admiring their hosts.

Get in touch with one of our teams if you would like to order for white or coloured wish lanterns, we would be glad to help.

The allure of a safari is seeing wildlife up close and personal, but along with the glorious lions and elephants come the smaller critters like frogs, snakes, butterflies and lizards.Hang Up mosquito netting against the walls or from lighting fixtures to drape across a room. Up the exotic factor in your home by tossing a leopard print faux fur throw over a couch for the party. Or produce a safari buffet by setting up party food on a table and hanging mosquito netting around the back half and sides of the table to only allow access from the front.

Think John Travolta in Disco Fever: tight-fitting button down shirt in a loud color with super-peaked lapel. Make certain the shirt is left unbuttoned at the top to show off a little skin for the disco, and pair it with some polyester bell bottoms. Giant sunglasses and a possible neck scarf complete the Disco Dude’s dancing attire. The best way to find your own Disco Dude getup is to hit the local thrift store, which is sure to carry some nice examples of 1970s disco era threads. This is a great plan for a seventies theme party!

Calling with no Pair Heads up

Filed under: Gamblers Lair, Life Of Games, The Funny Farm — admin @ 12:20 pm

Heads up poker is such a different beast from the way it goes with a full table, or even short handed. Often it resembles chess more than any other hybrid of online poker , where psychology and strategizing over the long haul means as much if not more than any one given hand. The small pots add up and can end up being worth more even than the large ones. Every decision can mean life or death. The main difference here when it comes to value of online poker cards is that everything is much more powerful than it normally would be. A pair is often the best hand when flopped or in the hole, because of how hard it is to make a pair with any two random cards. One step back from this is the fact that ace high can often be the best hand, in that your opponent has failed to make any sort of hand. You often see great heads up players making calls in big pots with ace high and winning. Often this happens when the board looked favorable for a draw that did not come; such as two of a suit on the flop that didn’t materialize, coupled with an opponent who likes to bet and draw at such a hand. A bare ace means that your opponent at least has to have a pair to beat you, and sometimes this is enough to win a pot. Feel is again the issue, but never assume that you’ve lost simply because all you’ve got ace high. In heads up, it can be a monster.

Overpairs on Weak Boards

Filed under: Gamblers Lair, Life Of Games, The Funny Farm — admin @ 12:49 pm

Pair versus pair is traditionally one of the quickest ways to see big money changes hands in online poker. Especially when the pair are large, odds are often that you will see a lot of money go into the pot. Players with medium to large pairs often operate under the idea that their opponent probably couldn’t also have a pair at the same time. Therefore, when the flop comes down all rags and you are still holding an overpair with pocket nines, it seems like a cakewalk that your opponent has to be holding AK or AQ that missed instead of pockets 10s or jacks or better.

If you are facing an online poker opponent who raised or called your raise before the flop, there is always the chance they also have a pair. Betting out with an overpair is usually correct, but when you get reraised it might be time to think about the possibility he has an overpair too (not to mention that he might have flopped a set or etc.)

Overpairs are nice, but at the end of the day they are only one pair. You never want to go broke just holding a pairit’s the weakest hand in the game besides just a high card. Proceed, but proceed cautiously, and base your judgment on your poker online opponent’s historyhow he has operated on bigger pairs than yours in the past, what he would likely do if he had one now, etc.

Poker Trends for the past Decade

Filed under: Gamblers Lair, Life Of Games, The Funny Farm — admin @ 11:57 am

With its long storied history, poker online is a continually evolving game. Though the game has been fundamentally the same — i.e. betting, bluffing, chips and card rankings — many things have changed too. The first decade of the 21st century has seen many new twists added to poker. Here are just a few: * online poker rooms in casinos have made a huge comeback. During the decades leading up the 21st century, most casinos did not even have a poker room, or only a small area set aside for poker because its profits were considered too paltry compared to other forms of gambling such as Blackjack, roulette, craps, and slots. Live poker rooms are now becoming a popular presence in most casinos. * The phenomenonal proliferation and popularity of online poker sites which bring poker to players everywhere around the world; and the subsequent cheating scandals uncovered at Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker. Both sites admitted to the problem and reimbursed those customers who were affected. Though online poker is still quite popular, these incidents resurrected a dark shadow over poker as the “cheater’s game.” * Online poker has helped amateurs dominate the WSOP Main Event. Jamie Gold, Chris Moneymaker, Joe Hachem, and the most recent WSOP winner, 21-year old Joe Cada, are prime examples. * The enormous increase in WSOP participation makes it harder than ever for anyone to win, and almost impossible for any one individual to win or make it to a final table more than once, which was more common during the three decades preceding the 21st century. Only three players during this past decade are twice proven final table finishers: Dan Harrington, Mike Matusow and Jeff Shulman.

Keeping up with the Poker World

Filed under: Gamblers Lair, Life Of Games, The Funny Farm — admin @ 10:56 am

There’s so much information about the game of poker in the world today, it’s almost inexcusable to be a cruddy player. Between the internet, the TV broadcasts, the countless books, the big name examples, the poker online forums, poker magazines, poker paraphernalia, and whatever else poker attached that you can think of, there is literally so much out there that to be ignorant of the game now you have to have pretty much crawled out of a cave.

This wasn’t so much so five years ago. The game, though decades old, was still a thing the random passerby probably had little to no knowledge of. A player with average to decent skills in a casino could take on most any poker sightseer and get his money in the end. Now it’s harder and harder to tell who’s a chump and who’s on top of his game.

In the midst of all that catching up, it’s really nice to have a community of online poker players and information out there for your access at any time. It’s not only good for the game, it’s good for the human mind, and that’s something we need a lot of right now. Staying active and connected feels good, and is good for you. It’s a nice time to be a poker player. as oo’>
