Filed under: Best Gender Issue Tips — admin @ 4:26 am

Menopause is a natural occurrence for women and it is something which every woman will face at some point in her life. Fortunately, studies have been done in order to provide herbal treatments and remedies for women going through this stage. Herbal remedies, as controversial as they are, can potentially provide positive effects for women experiencing menopausal symptoms. Here are some common menopausal symptoms and the best form of herbal remedy associated with each:

• Hot Flashes - Hot flashes are one of the most common symptoms for women during menopause. Hot flashes can last up to 6 minutes and can potentially occur several times within one day.

Herbal Remedy - Black Cohosh (also known as squaw root, black snake root or rattle weed) has been studied and is proven as a reputable treatment for hot flashes.

• Insomnia - Many women experiencing menopausal symptoms also have difficulty sleeping. If you suffer from sleeplessness on a regular basis, you probably suffer from chronic insomnia.

Herbal Remedies - Kava (or Kawa) is used throughout the world as a remedy for anxiety and insomnia. Other remedies proven effective for treating insomnia and sleeplessness are Valerian root and HOPS.

• Depression and Mood Swings - Although most people joke about women becoming depressed and moody during menopause, these symptoms are very serious and if not treated properly can become dangerous and harmful.

Herbal Remedy - St. John’s Wart (also known as goat weed) has proven to be an affective antidepressant in reversing the feelings of depression which many menopausal women experience.

• Abnormal Hair Growth - Abnormal hair growth (also called hirsuitism) is perhaps one of the most embarrassing symptoms for women suffering from menopause. Abnormal hair growth can occur anywhere, although above the upper lip is usually a common target.

Herbal Remedy - Saw Palmetto (also known as Serenoa repens or windmill palm) is used for treating men with enlarged prostates as well as for women who are experiencing abnormal hair growth during menopause.

Menopause is a difficult time for every woman, but every woman must face it at some point. Approaching menopause with a positive attitude has been proven to reduce the likeliness of some menopausal symptoms like depression and anxiety. Type PDE-5 Inhibitors and NAION

Filed under: Best Gender Issue Tips — admin @ 8:52 pm

FDA has received 43 reports of varying degrees of vision loss, including blindness, in men taking type 5 phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors. Most of these cases of vision loss were due to nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). The loss of vision in some cases has been irreversible.

As type 5 phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors are the main active ingredients in Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a news release to advise healthcare providers of the potential risk.

NAION is a vascular event that is presumed to occur due to a decrease in blood flow to the small arteries that supply the optic nerve. A disruption in the blood supply to the optic nerve causes damage to the nerve. Injury to the nerve may result in permanent visual loss in 1 or both eyes. Patients are typically older than 50 years of age; clinical examination reveals unilateral visual acuity and visual field loss and optic disk edema. Despite the frequency with which this condition occurs, its exact cause is not known. Numerous risk factors have been proposed, including a small cup-to-disk ratio, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, arteriosclerosis, hypercholesterolemia, and after intraocular surgery.

As patients with erectile dysfunctions are more likely to have the microvascular risk factors typically associated with spontaneous NAION, an ischemic effect by type 5 phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors,on the optic nerve is plausible, but unlikely. In normal adults, PDE-5 inhibitors increased pulsatile ocular blood flow, a result of filling the choroidal circulation.

Despite the differences in the number of cases of NAION among men taking the various PDE-5 inhibitors - 38 cases in men using Viagra, 4 in men using Cialis, and 1 case in a man using Levitra - there is no evidence that one drug presents a higher risk than another. Viagra has been used by more than 23 million men worldwide, Cialis by more than 4.5 million, and Levitra by more than 1.8 million. The difference in the number of NAION cases among all 3 PDE-5 inhibitors reflects the number of each drug used worldwide rather than real differences in risk among drugs.

It can be recommended that patients with a history of monocular NAION be cautioned that PDE-5 inhibitors may increase the risk of NAION in the fellow eye. At the same time, patients who have risk factors for the development of NAION should be referred to an ophthalmologist before being prescribed PDE-5 inhibitors.

Viagra May Increase The Risk Of Blindness

Filed under: Best Gender Issue Tips — admin @ 7:46 pm

People suffering from Erectile Dysfunction have been very quick to embrace the Impotence drug called Viagra. Nobody can rule out the effectiveness of Viagra against Impotence but there are some cases where the drug is susceptible to some major side effects. These could be in the form a heart disease, diabetes and blindness.

New studies reveal the possible impact of Viagra on the visibility of a person. According to British Journal of Ophthalmology, a person may suddenly lose his eyesight resulting in Blindness. The doctors treating the problem, have warned their patients against the new fall out of Viagra.

Experts working on the subject feel that the drug could be reducing the flow of blood to the optic nerves resulting in the damage. Erectile Dysfunction drugs work on the mechanism of transferring more blood into the penis. The amount of blood being limited results in improper distribution of blood to other parts of the body. This may be one of the causes of blindness in people consuming the drug.

The manufacturers though, have criticized the new study saying the study is very brief and there is no clear indication of “Viagra” being solely responsible for Blindness.

Studies are still underway to find more and more cases, where people have suffered from sudden blindness after consuming Viagra. The researchers continue to encourage men to have the consultation of a physician before going any further with Viagra.

FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has reported that the recent cases of blindness may have been due to diabetes and heart problems that people carried before consuming the drug. However, it has been known that the problem does affect people suffering from Erectile Dysfunction and the damage is more lethal in people consuming the blue bill.

The manufacturers of Erectile Dysfunction drug have different views regarding the whole issue. They say the results could vary depending on the patient’s observational nature, his recalling capacity and the biasness of the interviewing person.
